Xorro Q is a learning response solution that encourages students to express their ideas within the classroom using a tablet pc, smart phone, laptop or desktop pc. Students can respond instantly to a teacher’s question, providing immediate in-class assessment/feedback and encouraging student-led discussion.
On the fly or pre-planned (Instant/Any-time) – The Xorro Q question templates make it easy for educators to create questions prior to, or spontaneously during, a lesson. Educators can create multi-choice style questions for assessment purposes, or more open-ended questions that necessitate full text answers.
Bring your own device –
Xorro Q makes use of existing student devices such as tablet pcs, smart phones, and laptops; making access easy and instant. Because Xorro Q is web based it works across all platforms (Windows, Mac, Android), allowing for multi-platform classes to engage in the same session.
Students logon to a Xorro Q session using their devices existing web browser or via a QR code reader.
The Xorro Q question window appears on the teacher’s computer and can be shown to the class via a data projector or interactive whiteboard. The teacher initiates a quiz or question session and as the students answer the results appear within the question window.
Integrate with existing software via the Q-Launch toolbarThe Q-launch floating toolbar provides for easy Xorro Q integration with your existing software. Xorro Q can be used in combination with any programme and provides for answer dragging onto the likes of PowerPoint, and existing IWB software such as 2Touch Workbook.
Teachers select the type of question they would like to run, instantly initiating the Xorro Q session along with the Xorro Q window. Students can then respond to the question, whilst the teacher interacts with other programmes on the screen. The quick launch toolbar is ideal for use for Video reviews, mind mapping sessions, even your existing IWB software – regardless of the brand.
The advantage of the Q-Launch toolbar is that it enables questions to be asked, and answers received, without a browser page dominating the visual surface presenting to the audience.
Easy to use
Xorro Q takes virtually no time to setup. With no download required or special app to be purchased, students simply logon to a session using their device’s web browser or QR code reader. Students can then use the same login for every session.
Teachers are also provided with an individualised web page that details their Xorro Q activities as well as allows for preparation of future sessions. Teachers can use their web facilitator to review and exports results, as well as create new questions, input student lists and view live question sessions.
Because the web facilitator is online it means teachers can access it at any time, from anywhere and from any browser, embracing the easy access nature of Xorro Q.
All results instantly appear on the Xorro Q window, providing immediate feedback to the teacher and students. Results are also saved directly to the teacher’s web facilitator page. This provides teachers with the ability to easily review and export results for their class and individual students.
Teachers using Xorro Q can make student responses anonymous, creating a safe avenue for all students to contribute to the lesson.
Xorro Q sessions are not just restrained to the classroom, with participants in multiple places able to engage in the same session.
Teachers can also run sessions outside of standard lesson time; creating questions relevant to homework, field trips, or exam revision. Students are then expected to answer the questions during a set time period ensuring completion of work outside of class. Teachers can then view results as they come in live and present these to the class the next day.
